Hi, there was a bit of a problem yesterday when I posted the pictures, it's ok now, and I've added the kalbarri pictures too. I've done a bit of tidying up, and you can now find the links to all the pictures from the photos page.
I'm in Exmouth at the moment, sitting next to Sioned, a very pissed off welsh girl who can't upload her pictures on facebook, and I need to decide whether I head up north straight away to go to the Kakadu national park, or if I stay one more day here (but there isn't much to do) and get on a tour to see the Karijini national park then to Broome. I don't think I will have time to see them both, and the weather is getting really tough up north (hot and humid with thunderstorms) and many things are closed, like the Kimberleys, so I might just leave the whole north part for another time... I've got a few more hours left to decide...

Salut, il y a eu un petit probleme hier quand j'ai telecharge les photos, mais c'est regle maintenant, et j'ai ajoute les photos de kalbarri en plus. J'ai aussi fait un peu de rangement et vous pouvez maintenant trouver les liens vers toutes les photos depuis la page photos.

Hi, finally, after spending another great day out in Cape range national park doing some snorkelling (with a shark among other things!), I found an internet cafe with a decent computer to upload a few pictures. Salut! finallement, apres avoir passe une autre super journee au cape range national park a faire du masque/tuba (avec un requin entre autre!), j'ai touve un internet cafe avec un ordinateur capable de telecharger quelques photos. Il ferme dans 2mn par contre, donc je ne peux pas en telecharger plus pour l'instant. we left Coral Bay this morning with a few of the people I was on the tour with and made the 2 hours drive to get to Exmouth, a bit further north.
It's absolutely roasting here. The 38 degrees from Coral Bay yesterday seem nearly cool compared to this. I've no idea what the temperature is, but I just went around the place for a bit and decided I'm going to spend the next couple of hours inside until the sun calms down a little bit. The good thing is that they have internet at the hostel and it looks like I'm going to be able to finally upload these first Australian pictures!
I'm only 2 weeks in the trip, and I already know that this trip is the best decision I ever took. With normal holidays, I'd be hitting the point where I have to go home, when here, I only start slowly getting used to that new rythm of travelling at a slow pace without too much plans in my head (eventhough I realise that copared to most of the people I meet, I still have a vague plan). The small problem I see at the moment is that by increasing the amount of time I spend in Australia, the budget will suffer since the cost of life here (at least on the west coast where everything has to be  brought from elsewhere) is completely crazy. everything is mad expensive, and with the pounds that keeps going down, and the australian dollar that keeps going up, things don't look too good for me...
Anyway, let's forget about these materialistic details ( :-) ) as I was saying yesterday, Coral Bay was really good for snorkelling. There was also a nice feeling in that place, with the buzzing youth hostel and the beach ... it felt a bit like a remote hippy community, which is something I quite like.
Exmouth seems very different ... think a far west town with empty streets under the roasting sun. I'm not planning to stay here for very long. The good news is that I found 3 people to share a car with and go visit the Cape Range national park 30km away from here tomorrow. Two women from london, and a lovely welsh girl who were on the tour with me. So tomorrow should be a good day, I've heard good things about that national park.
There is a swimming pool in the youth hostel, and I think I'm going to head there as soon as I'm done with the pictures (it's too hot even to go to the swimming pool right now anyway).
The picture upload thing on weebly doesn't seem to work .... argh!!

on a quitte Coral Bay ce matin avec quelques unes des personnes qui etaient sur le tour avec moi, et on a parcourru les 2h de route jusqu'a Exmouth, un peu plus au nord.
On cuit ici. Les 38 degres de Coral Bay hier semblent presque frais compare a ca. Je n'ai aucune idee de la temperature qu'il fait, mais je viens de faire un peu le tour du bled pendant quelques minutes et j'ai decide que j'allais passer les quelques heures qui viennent a l'interieur jusqu'a ce que le soleil se calme un peu. Ce qui est bien c'est qu'ils ont internet a l'auberge de jeunesse et on dirait que je vais enfin pouvoir telecharger ces premieres photos d'australie.
Ca ne fait que 15 jours que je suis parti, et je sais deja que faire ce voyage est probablement la meilleure decision que j'ai prise de ma vie. Avec des vacances normales, ce serait a peu pres le moment de rentrer, alors que la je commence tout doucement a me faire a ce nouveau rythme et a voyager doucement sans trop avoir de plan en tete (meme si je me rend compte que par rapport a la plupart des gens que je croise, j'ai tout de meme un vague plan). Le petit soucis que je vois pour le moment, c'est qu'en rallongeant la duree prevue en australie, le budget va en prendre un coup car le cout de la vie (en tout cas sur la cote ouest ou tout doit etre rammene d'ailleurs) est exhorbitant. Tout coute super cher, et entre la pound qui n'arrete pas de s'effondrer et le dollar australien qui monte, c'est pas l'ideal...
Mais bon, oublions un peu ces petits details materiels ( :-) ) ... comme je disais hier, Coral Bay etait vraiment un super endroit pour faire du masque/tuba. Il y avait aussi une ambiance sympa a cet endroit, avec une auberge de jeunesse super vivante et la plage ... ca faisait un peu petite communaute hippie, ce qui n'est pas pour me deplaire.
Exmouth semble tres different... imaginez une bourgade du far west avec des rues vides sous le soleil brulant. Je ne prevois pas d'y rester tres longtemps. La bonne nouvelle c'est que j'ai trouve 3 personnes pour partager une voiture et aller visiter le parc national de Cape Range a 30km d'ici demain. Deux femmes de londres, et une charmante galloise qui etaient sur le tour avec moi. Demain devrait donc etre une bonne journee, on m'a dit du bien de ce parc national.
Il y a une piscine a l'auberge de jeunesse, et je crois que je vais y aller des que j'aurai fini avec les photos (il fait trop chaud meme pour aller a la piscine maintenant de toutes facons)
Le truc pour telecharger des photos sur weebly n'a pas l'air de marcher ... argh!!

Hi, this is going to be a short one because I'm in Coral Bay at the moment, a little village of 160 inhabitants on the west coast of Australia, and internet access is not exactly the best. I can't upload pictures from here, so you will have to wait a little bit. Not too sure how long because that place is great and I might stay around for a littlw while :-)
So last time I was in Perth, and the weather wasn't the best. I met Jason, an Australian friend I used to work with in Ireland who lives in Perth with his Irish wife and kids. It was great to see him after about 9 years (thanks Jason for showing me around the area a bit, and thanks Deirdre for the lovely diner ... sorry about the football!).
After visiting Perth and Fremantle, I went to Rottnest island (a tiny island close to Perth with beautifull beaches) for a day to do some cycling around. Unfortunately, the weather was awfull. First, I understood during the very movemented ferry crossing that I was right never to have gone for a carrier as a mariner... (no comment) ... then once I got there on an empty stomach, I started cycling and a few minuts later it started pouring rain and I ended up soaked (including walking boots, jeans, my brand new lonely planet, etc... I miraculously managed to save my phone, ipod and camera). I'm sure rottnest is a lovely place, but not on that day!!
Anyway, it was good to do a bit of cycling, and when I got back to Perth, I decided to go up north the following day with a little tour. It's the only way I found to get out of Perth because I wasn't there long enough to find people to share a car with. That tour was great as it was like a bus going north, stopping to the good places, but everybody was free to get on and off whenever they want and sleep and eat wherever they want to. At the same time, there was a great bunch of people on that bus, along with the driver who was a great guy, and we had a lot of fun. The tour is not totally over in fact since I still have one more stage on my ticket that I can complete whenever I want.
We saw a lot of things on the way, pinnacles desert, Kalbarri national parc with plenty of nice red rocks and a lot of red roads everywhere (with kangaroos jumping in front of the bus). The ningaloo maritime parc where I currently am, is an unbelievable place to do snorkeling and diving. Fish everywhere, you can just take your snorkeling gear on the beach and 20m away front the shore you start seeing plenty of it. Today we went on a boat to do some snorkeling a bit further away, and we swam with manta rays, reef sharks and turtles. I swam on my own with a turtle for about 10 minutes (I  was a bit away from the group we had gone with), and it was magic. It's still 38 degrees outside, so it's nice to be in the shade for a while, but I'd better go now! I promise I'll put some pictures here as soon as I can!

Salut, je vais essayer de faire court car je suis a Coral Bay pour le moment, un petit village de 160 habitants sur la cote ouest de l'australie, et c'est un peu ravitaille par les corbeaux (y compris pour internet). Je ne peux pas telecharger de photos donc vous devrez attendre un peu ... je sais pas combien de temps exactement car l'endroit est genial et je risque d'y rester un peu.
Donc la derniere fois j'etais a Perth et le temps n'etait pas genial.
J'ai rencontre Jason, un copain Australien avec qui je travaillais en Irlande et qui habite a Perth avec sa femme Irlandaise et ses enfants. C'estait sympa de le revoir apres presque 9 ans! (merci Jason pour m'avoir fait visiter un peu le coin, et merci Deirdre pour le tres bon repas ... desole pour le foot!).
Apres avoir visite Perth et Fremantle, je suis alle a Rottnest island (une petite ile pres de Perth avec de belles plages) pour la journee, pour faire un peu de velo autour de l'ile. Malheureusement, le temps etait pourri. Tout d'abord j'ai compris pendant la traversee tres agitee en ferry que j'avais bien fait de ne jamais m'orienter vers une carriere de marin ... (pas de commentaire) ... et une fois arrive le ventre vide a Rottnest, j'ai commence a faire du velo et il s'est mis a tomber des trombes d'eau quelques minutes plus tard. J'ai fini trempe (y compris mes pompes de rando, mon jean, mon guide lonely planet tout neuf, etc...) j'ai miraculeusement reussi a sauver mon telephone, ipod e appareil photo). Je suis sur que rottnest est tres jolie, mais pas le jour ou j'y etais!!
Mais bon, c'etait quand meme sympa de faire du velo, et quand je suis rentre a Perth, j'ai decide de partir vers le nord le lendemain avec un petit tour organise par une compagnie locale. c'est le seul moyen que j'ai trouve pour sortir de perth car je n'y suis pas reste suffisamment longtemps pour trouver des gens qui voudraient partager une voiture pour aller vers le nord. Ce tour etait vraiment sympa car c'etait en fait un petit bus allant vers le nord et s'arretant dans tous les bons endroits, mais tout le monde etait libre de s'arreter poru quelques jours n'importe ou et de dormir et manger ou ils veulent. Et en plus il y avait un bon groupe de gens sympas dans ce bus, ainsi que le chauffeur qui etait vraiment cool, et on a bien rigole.
En fait le tor n'est pas totalement termine car il me reste une etape vers Exmouth que je peux fair quand je veux.
Le temps a ete super cette fois et on a vu enormement de choses en chemin deja. Pinnacles desert, Kalbarri national parc avec plein de beau rochers rouges, plein de routes rouges partout (avec des kangourous qui sautent devant le bus). Le parc maritime de Ningaloo la ou je me trouve en cemoment est un endroit incroyable pour tout ce qui concerne le monde sous marin. Il y a des poissons partout. On peut prendre masque et tuba sur la plage, et a 20m du rivage voir des trucs incroyables. Aujourd'hui on a pris un bateau pour aller faire du masque/tuba un peu plus loin, et on a nage avec des raies manta (superbe), des requins (!), et des tortues. J'ai nage tout seul avec une tortue pendant 10 minutes (je m'etais un peu eloigne du groupe qui etait sur le bateau en meme temps), et c'etait magique.
La il fait encore 38 degres dehors, et c'est sympa d'etre un peu a l'ombre pour un moment... mais je dois y aller maintenant.Promis, je mets des photos des que possible!

Here it is, I finally found a bit of time to post the first pictures of the trip. It's the Hong Kong part. I haven't had time to put comments on all of them. Hopefully I will manage to finish this before too many new pictures come in...

Hong Kong was good! It's a very lively city and people seem to be out all day and all night. I watched France-Ireland in a pub at 4am last Saturday, and the place was packed!
The city really stands between an ultra modern side with the huge buildings and technology everywhere, and a much more traditional Chinese side with old little markets and traditions. The mix is quite interesting...
Traveling alone takes a bit of time to getting used to, but it's going well so far and I even ended up in a hidden blues jam session party with the locals last Friday. I just asked a guy who was carrying a guitar where I could buy a cheap guitar, and he told me he was going to this hidden party and I could come if I liked guitar. It was great fun. I've got a small video which I'll try yo post at some stage.
I arrived in Perth this morning ... the good thing is that even if it's a 7 hours flight, it's the same time zone as Hong Kong. I've been walking around Perth all day, and it's a very chilled out place. Good atmosphere. I wanted to go to Rottnest island tomorrow which is supposed to have lovely beaches, but I will probably do something else instead since the weather forecast doesn't look too good (all these west australians who told me about the weather in their area would have lied to me?). But no worries about the weather, I checked into a hostel, and I have to share a 6 bed dorm with 5 pretty girls... life is tough sometimes ah ah.

Ca y est, j'ai enfin trouve un peu de temps pour mettre en ligne les premieres photos du voyage. Il s'agit des photos de Hong Kong. J'ai pas encore eu le temps de mettre tous les commentaires, mais j'espere que j'y arriverai avant que trop de nouvelles photos se rajoutent a la liste...

Hong Kong etait sympa. C'est une ville tres vivante et les gens semble etre de sortie jour et nuit. J'ai regarde France-Irlande dans un pub a 4h du matin samedi dernier, et c'etait plein a craquer!
La ville se trouve vraiment a mi-chemin entre un cote ultra moderne avec les gros buildings et la technologie partout, et un cote Chinois beaucoup plus traditionel avec les vieux petits marches et les traditions. Le melange est assez interessant...
Il faut un peu de temps pour s'habituer a voyager seul, mais ca va bien pour le moment, et j'ai meme fini dans une fete + boeuf blues secret avec les locaux vendredi dernier. J'ai simplement demande a un gars dans la rue qui portait une guitare, ou est-ce que je pouvais en acheter une pas cher, et il m'a dit qu'il allait a cette soiree secrete et que je pouvais venir si j'aimais la guitare. c'etait super. J'ai une petite video que j'essaierai de mettre en ligne un de ces quatre.
Je suis arrive a Perth ce matin ... ce qui est bien c'est que malgre le vol de 7h, c'est le meme fuseau horaire que Hong Kong. J'ai marche dans Perth toute la journee, c'est une ville tres relax. Bonne ambiance. Je voulais aller a l'ile de Rottnest demain car il parrait qu'il y a des plages superbes, mais je vais surement changer de plan car les previsions meteo ne sont pas terribles (tous ces australiens de l'ouest qui m'ont parle du temps dans leur region m'auraient menti?). Mais pas de souci pour le temps, j'ai pris une chambre dans une auberge de jeunesse, et je dois partager un dortoir de 6 lits avec 5 charmantes jeunes filles... la vie est dure parfois ah ah.

I'm in Hong Kong at the moment, and the place looks quite fun, although all I had time to do for now is find a crappy room on the 5th floor of some kind of shopping center and go for a walk .... talking about the walk, I was strolling on the "avenue of stars" (a 1km stretch along the harbour which looks to me like the local "croisette"), and there was a sound system playing music, and the first song they played when I got there was .... Carla Bruni Sarkozy (quelqu'un qui m'a dit) ... how far do you have to go to get away from it!!!??
ok, I'm off to explore a bit more of hong kong at night this time (lots of neon lights) and try to buy a camera to get some nice pictures to post here...

Finallement, apres 2437 fetes de depart, dejeuners de depart, diners de departs et pots de departs, je suis enfin parti!
Je suis a Hong Kong pour le moment, et cet endroit a l'air assez marrant...
pour l'instant tout ce que j'ai eu le temps de faire est trouver une chambre un peu pourrie au 5eme etage d'une espece de centre commercial et aller faire une balade. Et en parlant de la balade, j'ai marche le long de l'"avenue of stars", une espece de "croisette" locale le long du port, et des haut parleurs diffusaient de la musique, et le premier morceau qui est passe quand je suis arrive c'etait .... Carla Bruni Sarkozy (quelqu'un qui m'a dit) ... c'etait bien la peine de faire tout ce trajet pour aller a l'autre bout du monde!!
bon je repars explorer un peu plus Hong Kong, de nuit cette fois (beaucoup de neons) et essayer d'acheter un appareil photo pour avoir quelque chose a mettre  sur ce blog.
